Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre construction Traffic/pedestrian impacts January – March 2026
As construction continues on the new Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Torquay, some upcoming works will temporarily impact traffic and pedestrian access in the area.
Sewer works on White Street, Torquay: 13-23 January
As construction continues on the new Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Torquay, some upcoming works will temporarily impact traffic and pedestrian access in the area.
Sewer works on White Street, Torquay: 13-23 January
To allow for sewer works, a section of the path on the southern side of White Street near Surf Coast Secondary College will be temporarily closed from 13 -23 January. The footpath on the northern side of White Street will remain open.
Phase 1 water main works on Wadawurrung Way, Torquay: 28 January – 10 February
Water main works are being undertaken along Wadawurrung Way, from the existing water meter at the corner of Merrijig Drive and Wadawurrung Way to the new aquatic facility. This work will initially involve closure of the Council office service roads from 28 January – 10 February. While the service roads will be closed, the footpath alongside the Council building will remain open. The 7 February Farmers Market will continue as normal - we’ve notified the organisers to let them know about these impacts.

Phase 2 water main works on Wadawurrung Way, Torquay: 10 February – 2 March
The second phase of the mains work will take place from 10 February - 2 March and will impact traffic and parking along Wadawurrung Way. Traffic control will be in place 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday. There will be temporary closures of the footpath and some parking spaces.
