Equipment:- If you have your own paddle to bring along, that’s great, otherwise we have a paddle you can use until you get one of your own. Paddles are now available at Kmart and online as well as numerous retailers where these can be purchased and the Pickleball Superstore may be a good starting point.
We also provide the pickleballs and nets, so everything you need to enjoy a great game... you just need to bring along a smile :-)
Skill level:- We use DUPR as our guide for placing players into the correct skill range of games. Your Spond app will show you the games/sessions/events that are suitable for your skill level. At the nominated DUPR games, scores will be taken however ONLY players who have a DUPR account will be allowed to play at these sessions, so if you don't already have a DUPR account we urge you to get one. You will also have access to SOCIAL OPEN games for ALL levels, where you are not required to have a DUPR account. We ask ALL players to regulate their play based on the skill of their opponents at all social games, as we have a great mix of new players and veterans. We ask you be kind and pull back on overly powerful returns, as our OPEN SOCIAL games should be focused on FUN!

If you have the basics of pickleball confidently under your belt:- ie serving, returns, dinking, lobs, scoring and played at least 10 games or more then we require your assistance to email us the information below, so we can offer you the most suitable sessions commensurate to your skill level.

(if you have a partner who would also like to book in, you will need to set up a SEPARATE account in Spond with a different email address.)
C/ In the box "Member of another Club " please type YES and which club you are from (ie YES Ballarat) in your details on Spond or NO if you're not with another club.
D/ Please enter YES in one of the boxes:- Played 10 Games or More or Played Under 10 Games or Never Played Pickleball (if you have played under 10 games or never played pickleball - then please follow the steps here to begin your playing journey)
E/ Please enter your Pickleball Victoria ID# in the box provided "National ID No." (you can check for your membership number here and to ensure you membership is still valid.)
F/ Once you are in Spond please click on the "group button" or "heads button" at the bottom of the Spond page. (second from the left side, at the bottom of the screen) Once you click on that, you should see our LOGO.. click on that. Now you should see EVENTS (Games) appear on the page. This is where you will click on a particular game and book in. Please DO NOT BOOK INTO GAMES SHOWN ON THE PREVIOUS SCREEN (maybe called Home) on Spond. Although it does also show events, they may not be all there, so you must ALWAYS click on groups at the bottom and then our LOGO, to see all Torquay Events/Games.
Once you are booked into a game on SPOND, please private message Stephen and let him know you are coming to play.
You will need to arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes EARLY to fill in our INDUCTION form. You will NOT be allowed on the court unless this has been done.
After playing 2 games at our club and to satisfy our insurance obligations and in order to continue to play at Torquay, you will need to join our Torquay Pickleball Club (in addition to your home club). The annual membership cost is currently only $20pa. Please email us for our bank details and let us know what your home club is and what your Pickleball Victoria National ID no is. Thank you
Once we have received your payment, you will see your Surname on Spond change and have eg "TPAM1125" at the end. This tells us you are a member of our club and your expiry is November 25.
If you do not join our club after 2 games you will not be able to play in further sessions and you risk being removed from Torquay Spond booking system.

- Please ROLL balls to the OUTSIDE of the COURTS – ie NOT ACROSS the courts, otherwise ALL games will have to STOP!
- If you need to send a ball to the other end of YOUR court, please don't throw it ... please ROLL it along the ground.
- If you need to send a ball back to the next court, please don't throw it ... please ROLL it to them.
- If you are playing up at the kitchen and you are about to hit a HARD shot in return, please aim for the opponents FEET (not face!) or better still, aim to where there is NO-ONE and out of their reach! (that would be an excellent shot!)
- Ensure you wear appropriate footwear – basketball courts can be slippery
- Ensure you warm up before a game – ie stretch, bend etc.
Duty Of Care - If a host, instructor or coach notices your play is unnecessarily heavy handed, especially toward less skilled players, they may have a chat with you. Once you are on the Pickleball Victoria website, ensure you pick "Torquay Pickleball Assoc - Adult or Senior etc." so it will show on Pickleball Victoria you have joined our Torquay club. If you only see "Active Adult with no affiliated club" on your Pickleball Victoria membership process, then you did not actually join Torquay Pickleball and you will need to email us.

If you a member of Torquay Pickleball but your membership has lapsed with Pickleball Victoria
and you may not have access to Spond anymore
and you may not have access to Spond anymore
Check on the Pickleball Victoria website that your membership has lapsed Click here to go to the Membership page at Pickleball Victoria and click on RETURNING MEMBER at the bottom of the page.
Once you have paid your fees, please email us your Pickleball Victoria Membership number. We can then activate your membership once we receive your email.

They will run through what you will need to do and explain the steps to running a session.
It's pretty easy these days and lots of people come early to help out.
